The Reprieves hail from South Carolina. The band's two original members, John Blume and Keir Weyble, were a musical odd couple, Blume a folk singer-songwriter and Weyble a hard rock guitarist. What they did have in common were their jobs as lawyers for death-row inmates. Their songs reflect their clients' stories.
The band's sound evolved into a hard-driving roots rock. John and Keir eventually ended up in Ithaca, New York, where they found a new drummer, Brad Wendel, and a bass player, Estelle McKee.
